# PRIVACY POLICY

Tracer is built so that your data stays yours. This page explains what the app does with data, in plain language.

## THE SHORT VERSION

 - Traffic you capture with Tracer is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded, synced, or shared.
 - No accounts. No logins. No ads. No analytics. No tracking.
 - We never sell your data. We couldn't if we wanted to — we don't have it.

## CAPTURED TRAFFIC

Tracer inspects network traffic on your device, at your request. Everything it captures — requests, responses, hostnames, timing — is stored in a local database on your device and nowhere else. You can erase it at any time from the app's settings.

The certificate Tracer uses to decrypt HTTPS traffic is generated on your device and never leaves it. Nobody — including us — can use it to read your traffic.

## THE MAP

Tracer shows where in the world your connections go. Server locations are looked up in a database bundled with the app, entirely on-device. The app occasionally refreshes this database from our server; that request includes nothing about you or your traffic.

To place you on the map, the app asks our server for the approximate location of your public IP address. The answer is used on your device for the visualization. We do not log or store it.

## SITE ICONS

To show an icon next to a captured domain, the app may ask for that site's public icon. We do not log or store these requests.

## PURCHASES

Tracer's premium tier is handled by Apple and RevenueCat, our payment infrastructure provider. Tracer identifies you to RevenueCat with a random anonymous ID — never a name, email, or account. Your answers to the app's setup questions may be shared under that same anonymous ID to improve the purchase experience. See [RevenueCat's privacy policy](https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy).

## CHILDREN

Tracer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

## CHANGES

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
